Eli Kristin Hanssveen
Soprano
In 2007 Eli Kristin Hanssveen was featured in the gala opening of the Norwegian National Opera house in Olso in the role of Musetta in La bohème. Her debut with the house was in 2002, where she amazed critics as the can-can-dancing Valencienne in Die Lustige Witwe. Other roles followed, including Magdalene in the world premiere of Barabbas by Ketil Hyoslef, Marguerite in Faust and Adele in Die Fledermaus.
A versatile artist, Ms. Hanssveen has performed as an actress in regional and national theater companies and is frequently heard as a jazz soloist. In 1999 she began working with improv pianist Misha Alperin and in 2000 the kfurter Allgemeine wrote, “Because of Eli Hanssveen’s background and wide range of skills and stage presence, she is an extraordinary match to Misha Alperin’s Moscow Art Trio”.
Her Swedish debut was at the Läckö Slottsopera in 2003 in the role of Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Other roles include Norina in Don Pasquale, Konstanze in Die Enführung aus dem Serail, Cunegonde in Candide, Euridice in Orphee aux Enfers, Ophelie in Hamlet and the title roles in Lucia, Lakme and Manon.
Ms. Hanssveen’s upcoming engagements include Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Lulli in the world premiere of Young Hamsum, Norina in Don Pasquale, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, and the world premiere of Violetta in Traveling the World in 80 Days. She has a record contract with Universal Records. Her recording credits include Husker du? (Do You Remember?), Som en bekk blir til en elv (As a Brook Becomes a Stream), Slik som du (Just Like You), Vals i Valparaiso (Waltz in Valparaiso), and several solo singles including Eat U Up, When love Comes Around and Once Upon a Time.
