Soprano
Praised by the New York Times for her “lush, sizable and luminous voice”, Russian soprano Mlada Khudoley has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company at the Metropolitan Opera, and has recently debuted at Covent Garden, Los Angeles Opera, The Dallas Opera, Vancouver Opera Carnegie Hall, Tokyo, the New Israeli Opera, Oper Leipzig, Kennedy Center, Festspeilhaus Baden-Baden, the Cardiff Millennium Center, Bolshoi Theatre, Concertgebow, among others.
This season Ms. Khudoley’s engagements include the role of Abigaile in Nabucco at the Royal Danish Opera and Teatr Wielki Warsaw, Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer at Dusseldorf Oper am Rhein, Katerina in Lady McBeth at Mtsensk with Opernhaus Graz and Komische Oper Berlin and the Tokyo New National Theater for the Verdi Requiem. In 2012, she will be heard in the title role of Aida at Vancouver Opera and she will return to Opernhaus Graz in the title role of Elektra.
In the 2009-2010 season, she made her New York Philharmonic debut performing Stravinsky’s Les Noces, she sang Verdi’s Abigaile in Nabucco in Warsaw, she sang Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer and she returned to the Minnesota Opera as Salome, a role she has sung with Dallas Opera, Vancouver Opera, Gulbenkian Center in Lisbon, Latvian National Opera, Lithuanian National Orchestra. During the summer she joins Maestro Valery Gergiev for recordings of Les Noces and the Kaiserin in Die Frau ohne Schatten. She will finish the season with Salome at the Tokyo New National Theater.
In the fall 2009, Ms. Khudoley debuted the roles of Kaiserin in Die Frau ohne Schatten, and Cassandra in Les Troyens, both new productions at the Mariinsky Theatre, as well as the title role in Aida, Lisa in Pique Dame, and Renata in The Fiery Angel. She was heard as Sieglinde in a concert performance of Die Walküre at the Cardiff Millennium Centre along side Bryn Terfel with Maestro Gergiev.
Ms. Khudoley has performed Lisa in Pique Dame at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer with Los Angeles Opera, Oper Leipzig, Latvian National Opera, and Teatro Massimo, as well as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser at Tokyo Opera Nomori with Maestro Seiji Ozawa and directed by Robert Carsen.
Ms. Khudoley graduated from the Russian Academy of Performing Arts, as an actor and solo vocalist. She was awarded “Singer of the Year Award” from St. Petersburg Theatrical Society, for the role of Sieglinde, which she performed with Maestro Placido Domingo in 2001. In 1998, Ms. Khudoley received the stipendium from the Wagner International Society in Bayreuth.
